Today the kids and I went to the Aquarium in Denver. Jacob asks at least weekly if we can go see the sharks, so we finally went today. They kids had a great time checking out all of the different kinds of fish. It helps that Grandpa Powell goes fishing and tells us about these things. We also saw a tarantula and the kids were surprised by how small a real one actually is. We watched the Archer fish spit at their food. We saw Nemo and Dori. We got to pet some sea stars and horseshoe crabs. We saw two tigers that kept eyeing the kids through the glass. At the end we played a game that won each of them a stuffed animal: Hannah and Ellie snakes and Jacob a Hammerhead shark. We had a great time!
As a side note, on the way out to the car Ellie faceplanted the sidewalk because her hands were in her pockets while she was walking. She had a bloody nose and scrapes. It was pretty sad. :(

Hannah helped lift up Ellie so that she could survive the "shark tank."

Ellie's facepaint that she got at the end. She was so excited to get a Christmas tree! |
Ellie was WORN OUT by the time we got home. Daddy got her out of the car and snuggled for a while while she tried to wake up. Notice Ellie's new snake wrapped around Daddy's neck.
